Larry A. Stephenson

Larry A. Stephenson graduated from Fuquay-Springs High School in 1955. He attended UNC Chapel Hill and received a BS in Business Administration. While attending Chapel Hill, he was in the ROTC program and received the rank of Second Lieutenant Reserve, USAF.

After completing his undergraduate studies, Larry earned his law degree at the Chapel Hill Law School. He was a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity. Upon graduation he entered the Air Force, serving at Sheppard Air Force Base in the J.A.G. Department. He served for three years and earned the rank of Captain.

In 1965, upon completion of his military service, Larry joined Jack Senter in his law practice. They maintained their partnership for thirty-six years. He was a member of the NC Bar Association and the Wake County Bar Association. He served as Town Attorney for Fuquay-Varina for several years.

Larry was Past Master of Fuquay Lodge #258 and a member of the Amran Shrine Temple. He was active in the Fuquay-Varina Jaycees and a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was an active and devoted member of First United Methodist Church and served in numerous capacities. He married Mollie Ashworth in 1959 and they have two daughters, Karen and Kelly. Larry passed away December 27, 2001 at his home in Fuquay-Varina after a brave battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
